The Common Ground Fair is going on this weekend, Sept. 20, 21 and 22. Be patient with traffic jams and allow plenty of time to get where you are going. I think the majority of locals utilize all the back roads that they can find.

I have had a few fires in the wood stove all ready. I must say the warmth from the wood stove feels awfully good on these cool evenings.

Happy belated 2nd birthday to Grayson Grant. Dustin enjoyed going to the party and watching him try out his new truck. What a cutie.

There will be a birthday party on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Dirigo Grange Hall in Freedom, 1 to 3 p.m., to help Roy Ward celebrate his 100th birthday. Please bring a food item to share.

Thorndike Fire Department is preparing for their open house on Saturday, Oct. 12, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be refreshments, handouts for the kiddos and there will be some smoke detectors given away. Come and show support for your local department.

Buzz Aldrin is quoted as saying, "Your mind is like a parachute: If it isn't open, it doesn't work."

Have a great week and enjoy life to its fullest.
