I was doing some shopping locally, when I saw Harriet Gosnell. I had not seen her in years until about three weeks ago and now I magically see her when I am out and about. So nice to see you, Harriet.

The Austin J. Grant annual breakfast will be held Saturday, Nov. 2, 4:30 to 11a.m., at the Thorndike Town Office, 125 Mount View Road (Route 220) in Thorndike. This year the breakfast will be supporting Operation Reboot Outdoors, a nonprofit for veterans. More info in next week's column.

While doing some banking locally this week, I saw and chatted with Christine Hubbard. We had not seen each other for quite a while. It was so good to see her. I guess it was my week for running into old friends.

I am looking forward to wishing Roy Ward a very happy 100th birthday at Freedom Grange Hall on Saturday, Oct. 26, 1 p.m. To RSVP call Jessica at 992-8143 and let her know what you will be bringing for the refreshment table. I understand this is supposed to be a surprise.

I am still mowing grass and every time I mow, I say this will be the last time. I am going to stop saying that because it still keeps growing and I keep mowing.

T. S. Eliot once said, "The years between 50 and 70 are the hardest. You are always being asked to do things, and yet you are not decrepit enough to turn them down."

Have a great week and do not forget to call me with your news items.
