Welcome to the new town clerk, Amber Hamblet, and the new assistant town clerk, Mary Grenade. They have posted new Town Office hours. They are as follows: Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Wednesday, noon to 7 p.m. Stop in and say hello.

Applications for Thorndike fire chief are currently being accepted at the Thorndike Town Office. Stop in and get an application if you are interested.

The Unity Area Recycling Center is a great place to take the following items, as there is no curbside pickup for them: refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and dehumidifiers. They must still contain Freon. Also, mixed electronic waste: coffeemakers with timers, printers, keyboards, microwave ovens, fax and copy machines, portable radios, telephones, including cell phones. Again, there is no curbside pickup of these items.

You may also take all types of batteries, printer ink and toner cartridges, TVs, computers and computer monitors, game consoles, digital picture frames and all mercury-containing devices. Please use caution handling these items. Keep intact and package appropriately.

If you have any questions, please call them at 568-3117.

We had guests in the gazebo one morning recently. Phil and Marsha walked over for a nice visit. We always enjoy their company.

The weather has turned much cooler and I do not like it as much as the warmer weather, but I guess I do not get to choose.

The town is also taking quotes on the upcoming winter roads. If you are interested, please call them because the deadline is Sept. 16, 6 p.m. Sorry, but I did not get notified until Tuesday, Sept. 8, too late for the paper.

I am going to attempt to do some mowing again, soon. I have not been able to do so since the middle of May. Stay tuned. It might be a story to tell.

Time to put away the hummingbird feeders and get out the sunflower seeds.

Natalie Wood is quoted as having said, "The only time a woman really succeeds in changing a man is when he's a baby."

Have a great week and get out and take a walk and enjoy the cool, crisp air.

Call me with any events that you have coming up that you want everyone to know about, such as church events, Grange news and the like.
