The Thorndike Parks and Recreation Committee will have a bake sale, Saturday, June 29, 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., at Mac's Hardware in Unity. This will be a fundraiser for the Parks and Recreation Committee.

Congratulations to the new Thorndike Municipal Fire Chief, Ronald Stevenson. He is looking for volunteers and applications may be picked up at Thorndike Town Office.  Good luck, Ronald. He is going to have applications available at the fire house Monday nights and, for now, the weekly meetings will be Mondays, 7 p.m.

Reminder for the annual Strawberry Festival at the Dirigo Grange in Freedom, Saturday, June 29, beginning at 4:30 p.m. and serving until 6 p.m.  This will be $8 per plate and includes turkey pie, mashed potatoes, peas, coleslaw, cranberry sauce and strawberries and cream.  They will also have fresh strawberries for sale.

A  reminder also that the tribute band "Back in Black" will be playing  at Unity Raceway, June 29, beginning at 8 p.m.  Sounds like a fun evening.

This rain needs to go away long enough for my lawn to dry out.  I mired the John Deere this week.  I had to pull it out with the help of Dustin and my Dad's old truck.

Mary Norris is quoted as saying, "You can have friends or you can correct people's grammar."

Have a great week and take advantage of any day that happens to have some sunshine in it.
