After two rounds of light snow so far this week, a third is on the way for Thursday. An area of low pressure will move in from the west and track through southern New England Wednesday night and through the Gulf of Maine on Thursday. We'll see snow fill in across the Midcoast from west to east leading up to sunrise Thursday and continue through the day before coming to an end early Thursday night. Snow totals will range between 4" to 8" for Waldo county with 2" to 5" south for our coastal counties.

Winds will be fairly light Thursday morning but pick up late in the day from north and northwest as a blast of cold air moves in. We'll see highs on Thursday in the upper 20s to low 30s with lows dropping into the single digits to near 0 by early Friday with wind chill values of -5 to -15. We'll see highs on Friday only reaching the low teens despite sunny skies with wind chill values holding near or below 0.

Another winter storm will follow for the weekend with snow beginning Saturday night and continuing into Sunday morning, mixing with rain at times along the coast. This storm has the potential of greater snow accumulation than our Thursday storm.
