Tag sale and bake sale

Friday and Saturday, Aug. 8 and 9 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., the Woman's Fellowship of the First Congregational Church of Searsport will hold its annual tag sale, as well as a bake sale. Many wonderful treasures will be available, including jewelry, dishes, craft items and more. Proceeds will benefit the group's scholarships and other local charities. Questions? Turkey supper

Saturday, Aug. 9, starting at 4:30 p.m., the Searsport United Methodist Church will hold its buffet-style, all-you-can-eat turkey supper with all the trimmings, including homemade pies for dessert. $9 for adults and $4.50 for children 12 and under. Take-out is available. All proceeds will go toward the ministry of the Searsport UMC.

Planning Board

Monday, Aug. 11, starting at 6:30 p.m., the Planning Board will hold its regular meeting in the Town Hall. This meeting will be televised. On Monday, Aug. 18, the Planning Board will hold a workshop in the Town Hall, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Withdrawal Committees

Wednesday, Aug. 13, starting at 6 p.m., the Searsport and Stockton RSU20 Withdrawal Committees will meet in the Stockton Town hall to work on the projected cost of operating the Searsport/Stockton school complex, should the withdrawal become reality.

Steelin' Thunder Benefit Concert

Saturday, Aug. 16, starting at 4 p.m., Steelin' Thunder Steel Band Concert will take place on the south lawn of the A.V. Nickels Inn.

Chairs will be furnished or bring a blanket. Dance on the lawn to the music or just relax and enjoy this show-stopping band! Beverages of all types will be available for purchase, as well as appetizers and other delicious food items.

Admission is $12 for adults and $6 for children under 12 with ID. This is one concert not to be missed. Top quality right here in Searsport, and what a setting! The concert will benefit the Capital Campaign of the First Congregational Church of Searsport.

Coleman House

The Coleman House will be open this summer on the following dates: Aug. 9 (Civil War talk and show and tell), Aug. 10, 16, 24 and 31. More info to follow.
