Two charged in altercation during protest
Belfast — According to a statement issued by Belfast Police Chief Gerald Lincoln Monday morning, two people were charged following an incident during the weekly anti-mask protest at the intersection of Main and High streets Sunday afternoon, Feb. 7.
At approximately 1:50 p.m., the statement said, a woman, Danna Ware, 59, stopped her vehicle on the corner and engaged the protest group. The argument began verbally and escalated to a physical altercation. As a result of the incident, Officer Rick Smith, who was stationed on the scene, summonsed Ware of Troy for disorderly conduct, assault and reckless conduct and charged Johanna Lane, 39, of Winslow, one of the protesters, with disorderly conduct.
Lincoln told The Republican Journal no one was injured in the incident.
