LINCOLNVILLE — Two Lincolnville residents are running in a special election for an opening on the Board of Selectmen.

The seat to be filled was held by Selectman David Barrows, who died in a tractor accident Sept. 13.

Jordan Barnett-Parker and Jason Trundy returned nomination papers by the Nov. 5 deadline. On Sept. 21, the Board of Selectmen voted to shorten the time period for filling out the nomination papers, which became available Sept. 28.

The special election will be held Dec. 15 for the vote to fill the position.

I feel that my whole life, through thick and thin or whatever it may be, the people of the town of Lincolnville have always stepped up and answered the call. Thank you very much to the two candidates looking to fill our vacant select board seat. We are in trying, unfamiliar times. With all that is going on in our town, county and the world today, it's unsettling and stressful to say the least. We experience another type of unsettling event in the loss of a very level headed, consistent, long time leader of our town who always had the town's best interest at heart. This is a tough act to follow by anyone's standards. I would ask that the voters of Lincolnville consider experience, dedication, and community connection, when voting for a Selectman at our special town meeting on December 15, 2020. A vote for Jason Trundy for Selectman for the Town of Lincolnville is the right choice in these times. Thank you.
