Belfast — Two women were hospitalized after their vehicles collided in the intersection of Cedar Street and Franklin Street.

Belfast Police Officer Wendall Ward said Kathleen Pendleton, 62, of Belfast, was driving on Cedar Street at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, when she failed to yield the right-of-way to Alice Beckett, 59, who was driving up Franklin Street.

Pendleton's 2001 Buick Century collided with Beckett's 2007 Toyota Corolla in the intersection. Both women were taken to Waldo County General Hospital for treatment after complaining of pain. Ward said the injuries did not appear to be too serious.

The two vehicles were towed from the scene of the crash. Pendleton was cited for failing to yield at a stop sign.

Belfast Fire Department and Ambulance assisted at the scene of the crash.
