I spent a lovely afternoon at the new home of my cousin Zachary Pillsbury and his wife in Benton I got to see most of my Pillsbury cousins and of course my Aunt Rosemary and had some delicious BBQ chicken.

Cassie's School of Dance has just started up for the year. Call Cassie for more information at (207) 692-6653.

Many mouths to feed! 455 people with BikeMaine will be cycling through Unity on Sunday the 10th and will be having lunch at the Community Center. If you can volunteer to meet and greet or help set up and take down or help serve lunch please let Mary know at 948-9005.

The races scheduled for Sept 10th at Unity Raceway have been cancelled. We wish George Fernald a speedy recovery.

Unity received a very nice gift from Ken Murch. A new flagpole will be going up soon at the town office. Ken has been very generous in the past as well, donating three lovely granite benches. Those benches are located at the town office, the veteran's memorial at the Village Cemetery, and just outside the Community Center. If you haven't seen them yet please check them out. And if you are so moved, you too could have your family recognized in perpetuity by purchasing one.

There was an article about Unity in the last issue of Bangor Metro. There were a couple inaccuracies, but overall a nice article that might induce people to come check us out.

Another family recently purchased a home. The town welcomes the Pelletiers!

Do you enjoy the Unity Festival? Do you want to see it continue? If you answered "yes" then we need your help. We'd like to see it grow and have more offerings for entertainment and children's activities. Please contact UBR or the town office and let us know what you can do to help! We are already in the planning stages for next year.

Two more classes coming up. Canning with hot water bath Sept 19 5-7 at the Community Center and on October 10 also from 5-7 will be freezer jam sauerkraut and dehydration. Please contact Richard Moore 948-6232 for more information.

Lori Grant Nason has started planning the 6th Annual Austin J Grant Hunter's Breakfast!

This year funds will go to the Thorndike Volunteer Fire Department's purchase of a Rescue Truck. It will also sponsor one Mt View student's Drivers Ed fee. (If you know a local teen in need of the class please message Lori, their name is kept confidential)

The Common Ground Fair is just around the corner. Lots of things happening that weekend. It is also the 20th anniversary of BUMUPPFMS at Unity Pond Pottery and Alumni/Parents weekend at Unity College.
