Yesterday I ran the air conditioning in day and turned on the electric heater at night. Wow. Crazy fall! Had a visit from Sharon Coolen the other night. She came over and picked some of my Northern Spy apples. Of course the really good apples are up high so she brought along a couple tree climbers.

On Oct. 7, you can experience "Farm to Table" up close at Buckle Farm on the Fisher Rd. in Unity. You will have a chance to take a tour of the farm with Jim & Hannah before they start a multi course feast. There are omnivore and vegetarian offerings. After dinner, they will gather around a bonfire with Amari, bourbon & live music. Tickets are $125 and include everything but lodging and transportation to and from the farm. Feel free to bring a tent and camp overnight with them! Don't forget your long johns! They will have an optional breakfast the next morning at the farm for those interested.

The annual Household Hazardous Waste Day is Oct. 7 in Pittsfield at their recycling center. Make sure you contact the Unity Town Office before going to pre-register. Paints, Stains, solvents, waste oil batteries cleaners, and other hazardous waste accepted. For a complete list visit. www.unityme.org. E-waste (TV's and such) can be brought to the Unity Area Recycling Center during regular hours.

I've been taking a poll on FB about how important that "Incorporated 1804" remain on our welcome signs. The vast majority of people want to keep it.

Reminder that the Winter Coat (and other warm articles of clothing) Drive is being held until Nov. 13. Please drop off your new or gently used apparel at the Community Center.

Also coming up at the Community Center is the freezer jam, sauerkraut and dehydration education Oct. 10 from 5-7 pm. Please contact Richard Moore at 948-6232 to sign up.

Please send me the information you'd like to share in this column to penny@unityme.org. Birthdays, anniversaries, get well wishes, etc.
