Well, I'm mostly cleaned up from the Thanksgiving festivities -- enough so I won't worry about the rest until tomorrow when I get back from Black Friday shopping. The cats have come out of their hiding places; they are not used to small children.

There's been some conversation in regard to the new speed limit signs by the college. They are large and on both sides of the road going up and coming down Quaker Hill Road. Just like any other sign, though, they only serve their purpose if people follow them. Speeding continues to be an issue all over town.

The next Waldo County public hearing and Budget Committee meeting will be on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m. at the District Courthouse in Belfast. I have been a member of the county Budget Committee for three years now. If you have questions regarding the county budget please feel free to ask me, or you might even attend a meeting and see where the money goes.

Unity College Center for the Performing Arts will be hosting "Steamboat Gypsy" Saturday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the door.

The winter parking ban went into effect Nov 1. It runs until April 15. It is enforced when the snow starts to pile up and roads need to be cleared.

The Burnham Women's Extension will be hosting David Keller from the Franklin County Extension. He will be speaking about "Edible Foods in the Wild" Wednesday, Dec. 6, from 10 to 11 a.m., with refreshments being served at the Burnham Town Office.

Don't forget the Yuletide Tree Lighting being held Sunday, Dec. 3, at 4:30 p.m. at the Unity Historical Society, with caroling and hot chocolate in addition to the lighting of the trees. Thorndike will be hosting their holiday festivities on the 8th.

There's been a little smack talk between Unity and Thorndike as to who can put on a better "show." I've got my money on Unity. Let's light this town up! We need to thank the Unity Business Exchange for their efforts in bringing the holiday spirit to town!
