I came home today and one of the cats was sprawled out on the porch roof sunning himself. I would have joined him, but I can't climb a ladder as good as he can. Along with the warm weather come potholes and frost heaves; most of Unity's secondary roads have been posted for the last couple of weeks.

We've been busy getting ready for the annual town meeting which, as always, is held the fourth Saturday of March, 10 a.m. at the Elementary School gymnasium. Voting for the vacant selectman's seat will be on Friday, March 23, from noon to 8 p.m. Dan McCormick is running for selectman; he's been attending meetings of many committees and has been a member as well. I urge you to vote and attend the town meeting. Absentee ballots for the selectman position are available. Because articles are amendable, you can only vote on them the day of the town meeting.

Timber Frame Farm is taking pre-orders for their pasture-raised chicken and turkey. You can reach them via Facebook, 802albion@gmail.com or 416-7294. Love them in August when they sell beautiful bouquets of zinnias and glads.

Tony and Dan McCormick went to DOT school last week to learn about our new speed flashing sign that the town of Unity received free for their attendance. They took hours away from their work and in turn saved the town a couple thousand dollars. They need to get a trailer for it, so it might be a few weeks before you actually see it in action.

Please stop in and meet Sheriff Trafton at 93 Main Coffee Shop on Thursday, March 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. You can learn about the Sheriff's Office and Sheriff Trafton's re-election campaign. If you haven't had any of Jean's excellent coffee or tea, this would be a perfect opportunity.

Chris Ross and the North will be performing at UCCPA at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 10.

Their programs will bring outdoor adventure to you in fun, safe, and amazingly beautiful environments.

Laura and Paul Stewart recently returned from a trip to Texas to see family. Laura reports she ate a lot of barbecue and Mexican food.

Tim and Suzanne Ferreira have a new addition to the family: "Cooper," a beautiful AKC German Shepherd puppy. She brought him to the office where we all got lots of kisses (from the puppy, not from Sue).

Please send me your news. You can reach me via phone (I'm still listed under Picard), or Facebook, or penny@unityme.org.
