I haven't undecorated my house yet from Christmas; usually I do that on the 1st of January while watching the Rose Bowl parade. I'll work on it today.

I won two stockings at the Bangor Savings Bank "festival of stockings," a $25 gift certificate to Patterson's in Burnham and a $25 gift certificate, honey and maple syrup from Dow's General Store in Albion.

Congratulation to Chase Toys who has been very generous over the years, donating to several organizations. This year they won the "People's Choice Award" at the Sukeforth Festival of Trees.

On Saturday, Jan. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m., there will be a karaoke night at Mammie's Country Kitchen. Have some good food and drink and either join in the singing or watch your friends and neighbors.

The Open Door will resume weekly lunches at the Community Center on Thursday, Jan. 9.

Unity Kitchen, formerly 93 Main cafe, has been open for the last couple of weeks. Normal business hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 5-9 p.m. Saturday hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 5-9 p.m. Sunday hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. They are closed on Mondays.

The Amish Community Market is closed until Jan. 20 for restocking and inventory.

The Unity Fire Department is having a winter raffle. The winner will receive $300 value of oil, kerosene or propane from Waldo County Oil, located in Troy. Tickets will be sold for $5 each, and all proceeds will benefit the Unity Fire Department. The drawing will be held Friday, Jan. 17. Please see any UFD firefighter to purchase a chance to win.

Dog licenses need to be paid by Jan. 31 to avoid the $25 late fee. Make sure you have a current rabies certificate.

Save the date! The annual town meeting will be held Saturday, March 28. This year we are starting an hour earlier at 9 a.m. Election for selectman will be held at the Town Office on March 27 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nomination papers for selectman (one position) are due Jan. 27.
