LINCOLNVILLE — Multiple fire departments from Knox and Waldo counties responded July 14 to a structure fire at a home on Masalin Road.

The fire at 147 Masalin Road was reported at 11:37 a.m. and is believed to have been caused by a lawnmower parked in an under-house garage, said Lincolnville Deputy Assistant Fire Chief Don Fullington III. The owner was home when the fire broke out and was able to exit safely, he said.  The owner is Kenneth Morang, according to property tax records.

Fullington said when firefighters arrived around 11:45 a.m. there were flames coming out of the garage and a first floor front window.

Lincolnville firefighters quickly knocked down the fire, he said. There was a fast mutual aid response from Hope, Camden and Northport fire departments, he added. The home sustained heavy damage.
