New National Veterans Cemetery

Morrill Worcester, founder of Worcester Wreath Co. in Columbia Falls, is generously donating six acres of land to create the second National Veterans Cemetery in Maine. The state's original National Veterans Cemetery is located in Augusta.

The new cemetery will be located near Machias and will serve more than 9,000 veterans, their spouses and eligible family members who live within a 75-mile radius of its location.

Thank you, Morrill and Karen Worcester, for your beautiful gift to Maine veterans and families. To learn more about Wreaths Across America’s Mission and how you can become involved and support them, please visit wreathsacrossamerica.org.

Mills Foundation open house

Everyone is invited to join retired U.S. Army S/Sgt. Travis Mills of the 82nd Airborne, a recalibrated warrior, motivational speaker, actor, author and advocate for veterans and amputees, on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at his veterans' retreat in Rome, Maine. There you can have a tour, get an update on the success of the 2017 inaugural program, and learn how you can get involved and support the Travis Mills Foundation.

During his recovery at Walter Reed Hospital, Mills found a passion for inspiring fellow wounded servicemen and women. He established the nonprofit Travis Mills Foundation to benefit and assist wounded and injured veterans and their families. Mills continues to inspire wounded servicemen and women and their families by showing them they can overcome their physical obstacles and emotional challenges and find purpose by staying the course through their recovery and beyond.
