Viking, Mustang girls prevail in Sept. 30 pitch battles

Searsport and Mount View high school soccer squads were in action on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 29-30, a scenario that resulted in a mixed bag of results.

The Viking girls split two games in two days as they bested Pine Tree Academy of Freeport 2-0 Saturday and were dealt a 2-0 loss by Greenville on Friday.

The Mustang girls also posted a 4-1 win over Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield on Saturday.

Searsport 2, Pine Tree Academy 0

At Maine Maritime Academy in Castine Sept. 30, the Vikings booted to a shutout win over the Breakers.

Makenzie Alley scored both goals in the win for Searsport, while Brooklynn Alberts added one assist.

Abby Stemp made one save on one shot in goal for the Vikings, while Brianna Foley made eight saves on 14 shots in goal for the Breakers.

In the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class D South, Searsport (5-6, 24.9961 points) is sixth, while Greenville (6-2-1, 49.3622 points) is first in the 12-team region. The top eight teams qualify for the playoffs.
