Vikings attend UMaine for a few hours

Orono — A small group of Searsport student-athletes attended college for a few hours, albeit, strictly at the University of Maine's impressive track-and-field facility.

In a high school meet on Friday, May 17, the Vikings competed against a handful of Eastern Maine opponents.

The girls team scores were: Orono 158, John Bapst of Bangor 128, Washington Academy of East Machias 108, Greenville 53, Dexter 32, Hermon 28, Penquis Valley of Milo 28, Piscataquis of East Corinth 14 and Searsport no score.

The boys team scores were: Orono 156, Washington Academy 118, Hermon 114, John Bapst 74, Dexter 27, Greenville 22, Penquis Valley 15, Searsport 10 and Piscataquis 1.

The Viking girls individual results were:

Javelin — 11, Diamond Platt, 50-11.

Discus — 7, Diamond Platt, 63-8; 23, Emma Gaecklein, 44-9; and 27, Haley Braga, 40-02.

Shot put — 13, Diamond Platt, 17-0.

The Viking boys individual results were:

20, Eli Law, 11-00.00.

Javelin — 8, Gabe Poulin, 109-02; 14, Caleb Fairbrother, 80-8; 26, Thomas Bradley, 48-6.

Discus — 9, Gabe Poulin, 79-0; 19, Thomas Bradley, 60-10; 21, Caleb Fairbrother, 58-01; and 24, Dawson Bierwas, 46-10.

Shot put — 12, Caleb Fairbrother, 27-6.

Pole vault — 2, Thomas Bradley, 9-0; and 5, Ellis Braga, 6-0.
