Vikings back on track in Hampden Academy meet

Hampden — Searsport track-and-field student-athletes got their high school athletic season under way on Friday, April 23 with a road meet hosted by Hampden Academy.

It had been two years since the Vikings were able to compete in an official outdoor meet due to the pandemic.

A handful of Vikings competed in the season-opening event, with a second place for Ellis Braga in the pole vault the best finish for SDHS participants.

The boys team scores were: Hampden Academy 186, Hermon 118.5, John Bapst of Bangor 92, Bangor Christian 33.5, Houlton/Greater Houlton Christian 28 and Searsport 14.

The girls team scores were: Hampden Academy 172, John Bapst 147, Houlton/Greater Houlton Christian 115, Hermon 31, Searsport 7 and Bangor Christian 4.

The individual results for Viking girls were:

100 meters — 7, Jayde Stone, 16.09; and 12, Gwen Berry, 17.73.

Shot put — 5, Abby Stone, 17-0.5; and 6, Brianna Fairbrother, 14-10.75.

Discus — 4, Brianna Fairbrother, 58-5 4; and 7 Abby Stone, 50-5.5.

Javelin — 8, Brianna Fairbrother, 40-10.

The individual results for Viking boys were:

100 meters — 4, Thanakorn Taentlek, 12.75.

Pole vault — 2, Ellis Braga, 9-0. Thomas Bradley also competed.

Long jump — 14, Ian Cottrell, 11-2.5. Thanakorn Taentlek also competed.

Shot put — 8, Colby Treat, 21-7.5.

Discus — 5, Laithe Allen, 74-10; and 7, Colby Treat, 60-2.

Javelin — 11, Ian Cottrell, 46-10.
