Vikings hold own in MDI-hosted meet

Braga soars to top spot in pole vault

Bar Harbor — A handful of Searsport track-and-field athletes more than held their own in a four-team high school meet on Saturday, May 1, an event hosted by Mount Desert Island.

Ellis Braga led the strong places for the Vikings with a first-place effort in the pole vault.

The girls team scores were: Mount Desert Island 189, Narraguagus of Harrington 43, Searsport 6 and Hermon 6.

The boys team scores were: Mount Desert Island 164, Hermon 49 and Searsport 11.

The individual SDHS results were:

Girls 100 meters — 5, Abigail Donnelly, 15.39; 6, Jayde Stone, 15.81; and 8, Gwen Berry, 17.38.

Boys 100 meters — 9, Thanakorn Taentlek, 12.81.

Boys long jump — 8, Thanakorn Taentlek, 14-07.75; and 10, Ian Cottrell, 10-8.5.

Girls javelin — 4, Samantha Perkins, 68-01; 7, Jayde Stone, 48-08; 8, Teakin Nickerson, 41-03; 9, Brianna Fairbrother, 37-10; and 12, Abby Stone, 29-07.

Boys javelin — 7, Ian Cottrell, 51-7.

Girls discus — 6, Brianna Fairbrother, 55-3; and 9, Abby Stone, 45-2.

Boys discus — 7, Laithe Allen, 70-3; and 8, Colby Treat, 58-2.

Girls shot put — 9, Abby Stone, 18-3; and 12, Brianna Fairbrother, 15-3.

Boys shot put — 5, Laithe Allen, 28-1.5; and 8, Colby Treat, 21-6.

Girls pole vault — 3, Abigail Donnelly, 6-0.

Boys pole vault — 1, Ellis Braga, 9-6; and 2, Thomas Bradley, 8-0.
