Vikings split with Eagles as regular season winds down

Searsport squads entrenched in respective playoff chases

The Searsport soccer teams, in the midst of their respective Class D South playoff chases, looked to improve its position with a pair of road games against George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 27-28.

In the end, the girls posted a 1-0 win on Wednesday, while the boys dropped a 3-1 decision on Thursday.

The following is a recap of both contests:

Boys soccer

George Stevens Academy 3, Searsport 1

At Blue Hill Sept. 28, the Eagles defeated the visiting Vikings.

Josh Golder scored the lone goal for Searsport, while Mike Moon also scored for GSA.

Ben Powell made 14 saves on 16 shots in goal for the Vikings, while Elias Reyes made four saves on five shots in goal for the Eagles.

Girls soccer

Searsport 1, George Stevens Academy 0

At Blue Hill Sept. 27, the Vikings netted a shutout victory over the Eagles.

The lone score came from Ashten Wells, who creased the net 12 minutes into the game, off an assist from Emma Spiegel.

Brooklynn Alberts made nine saves on 10 shots in net for Searsport, while Sophia Steinbarger made six saves on nine shots from George Stevens Academy.
