Waldo County closed cases

Belfast — The following cases were closed in Waldo County criminal courts between Aug. 28 and Sept.10:

Casey Owen Palmer, 28, of Freedom, tampering with a witness, informant, juror or victim, dismissed; harassment by telephone, $500 fine.

Evan F. Colby, 39, of Winterport, criminal mischief, sentence pending.

Elvis N. Robbins, 65, of Belfast, indecent conduct, 48 hours in jail.

Christopher Colwell, 36, of China, Aug. 5, 2019, domestic violence assault, dismissed; criminal mischief, dismissed; Oct. 11, 2019, criminal mischief, dismissed; obstructing report of a crime, dismissed; theft by unauthorized use of property, dismissed.

Jodi Gardner, 51, of Brooks, unlawful furnishing of scheduled drug, dismissed.

Richard Poirier, 45, Winslow, violating protection from abuse order, dismissed.

Tina M. Herrick, 57, of Lincolnville, domestic violence assault, dismissed.

Eric Blanchette, 20, of Swanville, assault, $300 fine.

Joanne M. Lydem, 48, of Jackson, Jan. 25, eluding an officer, dismissed; unlawful possession of scheduled drug, $400 fine, 23 days in jail; five counts of unlawful possession of scheduled drug, all dismissed; operating while license suspended or revoked, $250 fine; violating condition of release, 48 hours in jail; April 18, operating after habitual offender revocation, $500 fine, 30 days in jail; violating condition of release, 48 hours in jail.

Gail Curtis, 35, of Stockton Springs, unlawful possession of scheduled drug, $400 fine, 364 days in jail, all suspended, one year's probation; endangering the welfare of a child, dismissed.

Thomas Bormet, 46, of Stockton Springs, aggravated criminal trespass, dismissed; assault, $300 fine, 90 days in jail, stayed Nov. 13; criminal mischief, dismissed.

Diana Blood, 34, of Waldo, June 14, domestic violence assault, 14 days in jail; June 26, violating condition of release, 14 days in jail; Aug. 21, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, seven days in jail, restitution $29.97; violating condition of release, 20 days in jail.

Victoria Burns, 33, of Appleton, May 23, operating while license suspended or revoked, prior, dismissed.

Jean Montreal, 23, of Bangor, Aug. 19, criminal attempt, 24 hours in jail; violating condition of release, 24 hours in jail; Aug. 26, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, seven days in jail, restitution $85; violating condition of release, seven days in jail.

Timothy John Austin, 48, of Brooksville, domestic violence assault, dismissed.

Christopher Ray, 39, of Lincolnville, hunting without valid license, $100 fine.

Can someone explain why virtually all the domestic violence charges are dismissed?
