Feb 17, 2020

Belfast — March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month and, to stress its commitment to early detection, Waldo County General Hospital is offering a limited number of free colonoscopies to qualified patients.

The colonoscopies will be scheduled for Friday, March 13. To be eligible, you must be a Waldo County resident age 50 or older who has no insurance or has insurance with a deductible of $5,000 or more.

To learn if there are appointments still available and to book yours, call CarePartners at 505-4532.

Colon cancer affects both men and women and is the second leading cause of overall cancer deaths in the United States. Early detection through screening can dramatically reduce your risk. This means having your colon checked regularly starting at age 45, according to the American Cancer Society.
