Oxford — There has been a bevy of activity on the race track in recent weeks, including a trip to victory lane for Waldoboro native and Medomak Valley High School graduate Kelly Moore on Saturday, June 15 at Oxford Plains Speedway.

Moore, a Scarborough resident, outran foes with seeming ease once in front of the 50-lap Budweiser Championship Series Super Late Model race at OPS on his way to victory.

Moore is the all-time winningest driver and a former champion of the legendary NASCAR Busch North Series and the 1984 track champion at OPS.

He started the main event of the night in fourth and quickly moved up to battle front row-starter Brandon Barker of Windham for early supremacy.

The veteran champ easily held off rivals through a couple of restarts and finished about 1.6-seconds ahead of the previous week’s winner Curtis Gerry of Waterboro.

Other local results from June 15 at OPS saw Ryan Deane of Winterport finish 13th among 19 cars in the Super Late Model 50-lap race, while Keith Small of Warren finished fifth in the 15-lap Wicked Good Racing Association Hobby Division.

Also on June 15 at Speedway 95 in Hermon in Pro All Star Series (PASS) action, Travis Benjamin of Belfast finished sixth among 15 cars in the Hopkins Milling and Paving Super Late Model 150-lap race, while Chris King of Burnham finished 11th among 17 cars and Ryan Ripley of Rockland 14th among 17 cars in the Honer Badger Bar and Grill Street Stock Series.

At OPS on June 8 in the Budweiser Championship Series, Moore finished third among 16 drivers in the Super Late Model 50-lap main event, while Ryan Deane of Winterport finished sixth.

On Sunday, June 23 in PASS action at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, N.H., Benjamin finished 21st among 29 cars in the Super Late Model 50-lap race.

Also in recent action on the OPS oval in the Budweiser Championship Series Sunday, June 30, Deane finished fifth among 19 drivers in the Super Late Model 50-lap feature race.
