Warrant issued for forgery suspect

Belfast — A warrant for the arrest of Nikeshia Knight, 21, of Waterville, was issued after she failed to appear for an arraignment hearing Jan. 10 at Waldo County Unified Court.

Knight is charged with aggravated forgery and theft following an incident Jan. 17, 2019, in Belfast.

According to a court affidavit, "with intent to defraud or deceive another person ... (Knight) did falsely make complete, endorse or alter a written instrument... ."

The affidavit goes on to say, "...Knight did commit theft by obtaining ... groceries, property of Hannaford Bros. Co., Belfast, with intent to deprive ... of property."

She was released on $500 bail with the condition she not return to the Belfast Hannaford. Knight's new bail was set at $750 at the hearing.
