West Bay Rotary eWaste+ a Huge Success

By West Bay Rotary Club | May 09, 2019

It was a rainy Saturday, but that did not stop West Bay Rotarians from working hard at the 2019 eWaste+ collection event fundraiser.  The event was scheduled for 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the former Rockport Elementary School on West Street, but cars were lined up by 8:30 am.

By the end of event, a tractor trailer plus a large box truck were filled with electronic waste, over 8,800 pounds of paper were shredded, Rockport Police collected prescription drugs for safe disposal, and clothing was collected for “Cash for Clothes” – the major fundraiser for Coastal Opportunities.

By the end of the day, nearly 400 cars had passed through with contributions totaling more than $5,200.  The net proceeds from the event will benefit charities and non-profit organizations, and thanks to First National Bank sponsoring the shredding service, the expenses for the event were minimal.  Thank you to everyone who participated in our event.

EWaste+ is one of five major fundraising events for West Bay Rotary, and the next event is the Duck Derby at 5:00 pm on May 25th.  For more information about West Bay Rotary and its programs, email westbayrotaryinfo@gmail.com or visit www.WestBayRotaryofMaine.org or www.facebook.com/WestBayRotary.  For Duck Derby tickets, visit www.BuyDuckDerbyTickets.com.
