Dr. Brian Beal, experimental marine biologist, leads a free program on clam biology, ecology, and management on Sears Island, and explains why there are so few clams today in former clam capital of Maine. Sears Island is on Sears Island Road off Route 1 just east of Searsport. Park along the causeway and meet at the island gate kiosk by 9:30 a.m. Bring water, a snack and insect repellent. No pets.

In the event of steady rain, the program will be cancelled. For more information and updates, visit friendsofsearsisland.org, http://facebook.com/friendsofsearsisland, or call 207-975-3878.
