What's the Worst Part about Icicles and Ice Dams?

The worst part is you paid to heat and melt the snow to put them there! They may be pretty, but icicles mean that lots of heat is escaping through your attic! As heat escapes, it melts snow and ice on the roof. The melted water drains along the roof, under the snow, then refreezes when it reaches the roof's cold overhang.
