Windjammers, Panthers stay strong, swing to Sept. 5 links wins

Anderson, Murphy nail down medalist honors

The Camden Hills and Medomak Valley high school golf teams have been the Midcoast’s two hottest squads to begin the regular season — a trend that continued on Tuesday, Sept. 5, as both cemented road victories.

The undefeated Windjammers, who are 5-0, emerged with a 9-0 win over Lincoln Academy of Newcastle, while the Panthers, at 4-1, prowled to an 8.5-0.5 victory over Mount View of Thorndike.

The following is a recap of both matches:

Camden Hills 9, Lincoln Academy 0

At Wawenock Golf Club in Walpole Sept. 5, the Windjammers swung past the Eagles. Camden Hills finished with a four-golfer stroke total of 170 to 212 for Lincoln Academy.

The individual results, with Camden Hills golfers listed first, were: Cole Anderson (36) beat Basel White (49), Braden Fisher (41) beat Leonard Wall (49), Conor O’Dwyer (45) beat Damon Wall (55), Jonathan Mohoney (48) beat Damon Crommett (65), Nate Johnson (56) beat Quincy Perry (62) and Drew Minery (55) beat Alex Fabiano (70).

Anderson was the medalist at 36.

In jayvee play, Bryler Fisher (76) lost to Andrew Greenleaf (67) and Alex O’Dwyer (62) beat Liam Gilbert (77).

Medomak Valley 8.5, Mount View 0.5

At Country View Golf Course in Brooks Sept. 5, the Panthers swung to their fourth win in five matches, this time over the winless Mustangs. Medomak Valley finished with a four-golfer stroke total of 200 to 238 for Mount View.

The individual results, with Medomak Valley golfers listed first, were: Brent Stewart (50) halved with Jordan Roux (52); Carson Murphy (46) beat Jacob Rose (58), 3+1; Sean Sebrey (53) beat John Clifford (71), 4+2; Leighton Winslow (58) beat Lucas Ford (63), 2+1; Natalie Stewart (60) beat Chase Roberts, 3+1; and Merritt Gould (51) won by forfeit over Mount View.

Murphy was medalist at 46.
