Winterport Nativity assigns roles

Nov 07, 2012

Winterport — Parents are invited to bring their children of all ages for the Winterport Nativity role assignment and practice Saturday, Nov. 17 at 3 p.m. at the Winterport Baptist Church, 100 Coles Corner Road.

This year will mark the 44th consecutive presentation of this play, presented at night and outdoors, on the grounds of the historic Union Meeting House, the weekend before Christmas. The streetlights are turned off and the Route 1A traffic is diverted. The children of Winterport are the actors; the only speaking part is the Narrator, an adult. The play is 12 minutes long and involves live animals.

There are usually 300 spectators in attendance. This year’s Winterport Nativity will take place Friday and Saturday, Dec. 21 and 22. Those who cannot attend the Nov. 17 session but would like a part should contact Lynda and Dean El-Hajj at 223-5031 or by email to
