School news

Samuel L. Wagner School's cross-country team won the Sportmanship Award for the Penobscot Valley Middle School League. Fifth-graders participated this year, since they have made the move to the Wagner School. Students can't participate in contact sports (soccer and field hockey) until sixth grade.

A public forum at Wagner Middle School will be held Monday, Jan. 28, at 6 p.m. to discuss the possibility of Frankfort's joining SAD 22. Voters in the district will vote on the issue April 9.

Community gathering

Time to get rid of cabin fever. Ellingwoods Corner United Methodist Church, at the corner of Monroe Road and Route 69 in Winterport, is having a community gathering Saturday, Feb. 9, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. The thrift shop will be open, hand-dipped chocolates will be for sale, along with baked goods, and best of all a  free baked ham lunch with side dishes and desserts from 11 a.m. until gone. There will be board games to play, jigsaw puzzles to do and free hot coffee all day, so plan on staying a while. For further info contact Deb at 234-2762.

Condolences go out this week to the family and friends of Mildred Little, who passed away in Saco.
