Winter parking rules

Starting on Thursday, Nov. 15, and continuing until April 15, 2019, cars may park on even-numbered days on the northwest side of Main Street (Union Meeting House and Winterport Pizza side). On odd-numbered days they must be parked on the southwest side of Main Street (Deans Tires and the Olde Commercial House side).

Even and odd days are the actual date during daylight hours and do not change at midnight to avoid residents having to move cars late at night. Throughout the rest of the town, there is no overnight parking on any road.

Turkey drive

The Winterport Woman's Club GFWC will be holding its third annual turkey drive to assist the Neighbors Cupboard on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Winterport Memorial Library, 229 Main St. They will be accepting turkeys, checks, cash, and grocery gift cards in any amount. Non-perishable food donations are also welcome.

At the library

Robert J. Ristino, Ph.D., author of two suspense thrillers, will be giving a fast-paced, humorous presentation on how to write suspense thrillers at the Winterport Memorial Library on Wednesday, Nov. 14, beginning at 6 p.m. He will answering questions while posing more to the audience. He'll share what he's learned about writing, writing edgy suspense thrillers, and how to "scare the heck out of readers" without turning them off.

Until next week, that's all from the only place on earth that is called "Winterport."
