Correction: Sat. May 26 is the day that Tracy R. Gran Sr. will be at the Waldo Pierce Reading Room Library in Frankfort for a book signing of his book,"SISU, One American Boy's Life in the 1940s," from 1 to 2 p.m.

There is a District Meeting at Hampden Academy on June 7. This is an important meeting and Frankfort and Winterport residents should attend. Tax liens will be mailed out May 23 to people owing tax money. That means an extra $50 for the taxpayer to pay.

There will be a dedication and an open house at the new Fire Station and Town Office, Saturday, May 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Voting will be Tuesday, June 12, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wagner Middle School. Candidates are: Corey Ginn,Town Council, Joe Brooks, Assessor, and Scott Cuddy, Robert Franks and Mary Ann Royal, School Board.

Town Meeting is Thursday, June 14, at the Wagner Middle School.

Winterport Historical Association will have a meeting Thursday, June 14, starting with Pizza Night at the museum at 6:30 p.m. Jon Johansen is the guest speaker and the topic is "Winterport in the News."

Winterport Memorial Library has Maine State Park passes that library patrons in good standing may use for a day or a weekend. The Library will also show movies for kids and adults, too.

The Wooden Spoon is having a dinner by reservation only Saturday, June 9, at 5 p.m. Amuse: Mushroom and herbed goat cheese tart, smoked meat and cheese from Souder Station Farm. Appetizer: Seared scallop sand leek risotto with lemon brown butter sauce. Main: Braised short ribs with mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus. Dessert: Dark chocolate mousse with raspberry sauce. The chef is Winterport's own Mark Spohr. Pairings will be served with each course. Brunch is coming soon by reservation only.

The Pants on Fire 5k Race Is Saturday, June 9. Register before the race for $20. Register the day of the race for $25. Kids run free, no registration. This is a family-friendly race. Pets (restrained) and strollers welcome. Winners in several categories. Top three men and women get medals. One free beer after the race (21 and older) to race contestants. Music by Everett Dumas, kids' activities, refreshments and a chili cook-off. Money raised goes to Winterport Fire and Rescue and Winterport Rec. to help upgrade the park.
