Lincolnville — A motor vehicle crash and its aftermath Oct. 1 have resulted in multiple charges for Fern E. Marlborough, 40, of Lincolnville.

According to reports filed by Deputy David Mushrall of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office, Marlborough was involved in a crash shortly after 6 p.m. on Searsmont Road in Lincolnville.

No official crash report was available at the Sheriff’s Office as of Oct. 10; however, the officer's notes stated that Marlborough was traveling southbound on Searsmont Road when she became distracted and lost control of her vehicle. She went into a skid, crossed the northbound lane and struck two trees, then re-entered the roadway and went off the southbound side of the road, striking a tree head-on. She was charged in that incident with failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle and operating without a license in violation of conditions/restrictions.

Marlborough was taken to Waldo County General Hospital. Subsequently on Oct. 1, she was charged with two counts of assault, as well as with disorderly conduct and refusing to submit to arrest or detention. According to Lt. Matthew Curtis, those charges stem from an incident at Waldo County General Hospital on Northport Avenue, Belfast.

No further details were available as of the afternoon of Oct. 10. This story will be updated as additional information becomes available.
