Belfast — Necessary Music Productions brings its popular Badass Women Who Rock concerts the Crosby Center, 96 Church St., Saturday evening, Oct. 14. Doors open 5:30 p.m. and the music will run from 6 to 10 p.m.

With a lovely sound system and stage, large dance floor, seating for hundreds and location only a block from the center of town, Belfast finally has a great music venue again. NMP is partnering with the Crosby Center to bring Vicky Andres & Life Itself, Sugarbush and Random Ideas to the city.

The Badass Women Who Rock series kicked off in June, drawing well more than 200 people, including 70 or 80 kids, and a festival was born. Dedicated to highlighting the exceptional talent of amazing Women Who Rock, this Oct. 14 show will feature three bands of performers from Knox, Waldo and Kennebec counties. Each band will play one set. Tickets for the all-ages show are $15 at the door, free for children younger than 13.

Sugarbush is a rollicking soulful trio of powerhouse Waldo County women who blend a variety of genres into their unique Americana folk mix. Amy Green (guitar and vocals), Becca Biggs (banjo, foot percussion, and vocals) and Camille Giglio (cello and vocals) released their debut live studio album “Fresh from the Woods” in February.

Multi-faceted singer/songwriter and guitarist Vicky Andres works with noted Midcoast bass master Max McFarland and drummer of choice Jason Dean in her latest project. Together, they deliver an intense performance that is edgy, energetic and positive, fitting somewhere among alternative, rock and funk.

Random Ideas’ Lexi, Kinsey and Meagan met in the womb and have been jamming together ever since. They play all kinds of venues, from LGBT rallies to Harley-Davidson dealerships. Their driving and persistent anthems offer catchy melodies and crisp political lyrics covering many issues important to folks of all ages and persuasions here in Maine.
