Belfast — The gallery walls of the Belfast Co-op's café showcases figure paintings by Leslie Woods through July 25.

"The long wall of the café, the windows and, best of all, the Co-op employees, make this a treasured opportunity," Woods said, adding she needed to bring her supplies for hanging her show and forgot her hammer, but the Co-op quickly supplied one.

Woods, who lives in Montville, creates works of figures active in sports. Bodies are designed to move, she said, “and I enhance the motions of the selected moment in the sport." Her work is regularly seen at River Arts Gallery in Damariscotta and at the Boothbay Region Art Foundation Gallery in Boothbay Harbor.

"Although I had studied art long ago, I restarted in Belfast with Susan Tobey White, Kris Engman and other Maine artists,” she said. “It's wonderful to have this July to show work in Belfast."

Woods welcomes comments on her website, lesliewoodsart.com. The Belfast Co-op is downtown at 123 High St. The show runs through July 25.
