Writing sought for The Catch

Jan 24, 2018

Writers inspired by the coastal heritage of Downeast Maine and beyond are encouraged to submit their work to the online journal The Catch: Writings from Downeast Maine. Deadline to submit is Thursday, Feb. 15.

Submissions of poetry, fiction, essay and other prose are welcome from new and established writers, as well as from high school and college students. Writers whose work has been published in previous volumes include Ray Beal, Chris Crittendon, Robert Froese, Elizabeth Garber, Valerie Lawson, Carl Little, Carolyn Locke, Paul Molyneaux, Patricia Ranzoni and Baron Wormser.

Online publication of Volume VI will be in late spring. Submissions are accepted at catchjournal.org via the “Submit Article” link on the right-hand side. The Catch is related to the Downeast Fisheries Trail, a maritime education effort that highlights 45 sites of current and historic fishing history in Hancock and Washington counties and southwest New Brunswick, Canada. The Catch considers the region broadly, including all parts of the Maine and Maritime coasts.

The Catch is supported by the Maine Sea Grant College Program, Raymond H. Fogler Library, and DigitalCommons at the University of Maine.
