Zeigler earns highest score on pro-environment votes

Oct 01, 2019

Augusta — Rep. S. Paige Zeigler, D-Montville, has received a 100% rating on environmental votes in the newly released Maine Conservation Voters' 2019 Environmental Scorecard.

“The job of every generation is to leave a better world for those who come after us,” Zeigler said. “My colleagues and I made strides to leave a healthy and economically viable future for our children, and our work is not done.”

The statewide environmental advocacy group took into account seven key bills from the first session of the 129th Legislature. The bills included initiatives to increase renewable energy goals, expand solar power and create a Maine Climate Council to address impacts of climate change on marine resources and our communities. Bills also included banning polystyrene food containers and single-use plastic bags, phasing out the dangerous chemicals from food packaging and cleaning up pollution in Maine rivers.

The scorecard can be viewed online at maineconservation.org/scores.

Zeigler is serving his second term in the Maine House and is a member of the Environment and Natural Resources Committee. He represents Belmont, Liberty, Lincolnville, Montville, Morrill, Palermo and Searsmont.
