    RSU 20 students participate in jumping-jack contest

    In the spirit of good sportsmanship, camaraderie and physical stamina, elementary RSU 20 students from Stockton Springs, Searsport and Frankfort participated in an after-school jumping-jack contest. Students performed proper jumping-jacks while competing in arranged groups by grades, K-2 and 3-5.     Legion to sponsor Super Bowl dinner party

    On Sunday, Feb. 7 at 3:30 p.m., the American Legion in Belfast will host its annual Super Bowl dinner party. The menu will be baked stuffed haddock or chicken breast with stuffing, garlic mashed potatoes, peas or carrots, biscuits and pies.     Daughters of the American Revolution award two scholarships

    The Penobscot Expedition Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution gave away $1,000 in two scholarships at its January meeting. Doris Tripp awarded one of the scholarships to Jessica Libby, a junior at University of Southern Maine majoring in psychology. Jessica is the granddaughter of D.A.R. member Edna Vaughan.     Lions plan dinner to raise funds for food bank

    Eighty-two Lions Clubs across the state of Maine are currently holding fundraisers to raise $76,000 to purchase and install a standby generator for the Good Shepard Food-Bank in Auburn.     The W.E. Aubuchon Company has announced that it will join the massive effort around the world to assist in  earthquake relief for Haiti.
