    American Red Cross CPR classes offered

    Waldo County General Hospital is offering an American Red Cross CPR and Standard First Aid Certification Course that is open to the public. Classes will be held on three Tuesday evenings: March 30 is Adult CPR, April 6 is Infant and Child CPR and April 13 is Standard First Aid.     Belfast chess team competes in state championship

    The Belfast Free Library chess team competed at the Scholastic State Chess Team Championship at the University of Maine in Orono March 6. All three teams did extremely well in the Novice Division. The high school team got a first-place trophy, the Junior High Team and the K-6 elementary team both brought back second-place trophies.     Unitarian Church honors Restorative Justice Project

    Anonymous donor promises direct match in memory of museum registrar

    The Penobscot Marine Museum has received a "challenge grant" in memory of Edith P. Murphy of Rockland, who served as registrar at the museum, and who died last August after a yearlong illness.     Liberty students donate to help peers in Haiti

    For the past month, students at Walker School in Liberty have been collecting money to help the children in Haiti after the recent earthquake.
