    Everyone seems to be traveling and enjoying the summer — making up for time lost over the past two years! Our son, Alex, finally made it here from LA, for his first visit in 2022. He got sidelined by COVID, then 100-plus temps in Phoenix; finally, third time’s a charm.

    I’ve had extra help weeding in the garden lately. Oliver, almost 3, actually does really well yanking the weeds out and shaking the dirt loose, and makes sure to remind me often, “Let my green beans grow!”

    I’ve begun potting up perennial plants for the Frankfort Congregational Church’s annual plant and yard sale Saturday, May 21, and can announce that we will have a good variety to choose from. What with the combination of plants and yard sale goodies, coupled with John McMillan’s famous barbecue treats, it looks like a good time.

    It really is spring. I saw my first red-winged blackbird. I find myself walking tentatively, arms out like a windmill, to avoid falling on the slick mud over hidden icy sod. It will be Memorial Day before we know it.
