    One of the tallest mountains in Waldo County, Frye Mountain is a popular destination for local hiking and recreation. Though a summer access road runs over the mountain, the summit holds a wild feel, as the clearing once present there is now overgrown by the forest. This tells a larger tale about Frye Mountain, a place once home to a community, but now reclaimed by the forest from which it originated.

    The eighth graders of Mount View Middle School embarked upon a rafting trip Friday, June 3. It has long been a tradition of the eighth grade to go on a rafting trip on the Kennebec River, shortly before middle school graduation. Fortunately we were able to carry on that tradition this year.

    On April 11 the town of Montville held a public hearing in which they considered possible reform to the town's government. Currently the town's budget committee consists of three people, but this hearing discussed increasing the members to five.

    On Monday, March 21, my brother Isaac and his friend Ben Richards of Montville flew at the Belfast airport in a Cessna Cardinal as part of the Young Eagles Program, which is locally administered by Belfast Airport manager Kenn Ortmann.

    On the afternoon of Wednesday, March 16, I was walking on the trails near my home as I usually do in the afternoon. After cresting a hill, I looked to my left to find the ruffed grouse I had seen often before in the area. He seemed, as always, quite unafraid of me and walked casually around while I stood.

    On March 9, Mount View hosted a Middle School wrestling meet. Facing off against the home team were Oceanside and Bucksport middle schools. I have many friends on the wrestling team, so I was glad to have the opportunity to watch this meet along with other friends and classmates.

    On Sunday, Feb. 20, my family left Maine on a trip to Canada. Though traveling to Canada is geographically quite easy, the regulations the Canadian government has put in place in response to COVIE-19 make it more difficult.
