Crash caused by distracted driver
Police say a car was rear-ended after the driver slowed down to pull over and let another car pass. The crash, police said, resulted from excessive speed and distracted driving.

Driver flips car, no injuries
A car rolled over taking a sharp curve on Route 131 in Swanville. Police say speed was a factor in the crash and charges are pending.

New EMA facility at county garden site in concept phase
A plan to build a new Waldo County Emergency Management Agency facility at the 63-acre Reentry Center garden on Route 141 in Swanville has started to become a reality with site testing and evaluations. Construction is expected to begin next spring.

Broadband slow to arrive in Swanville
The pole permitting process is a long and tedious affair, especially in rural towns, according to Charter-Spectrum officials. They expect the high-speed internet project that will bring broadband to major roads in town to be completed by the end of the year.
