I was watching a grey squirrel run back and forth across the lawn carrying something in its mouth to deposit in my old large maple tree; she was moving her babies on this cold windy day.

We had a nice quiet Easter. I had my older brother and his wife over for a roast pork loin and all the fixin's. I know ham is the more popular choice; I hate ham, and since I was doing the cooking I got to decide what we ate.

Don't forget the annual town meeting on March 26! Registration opens at 8 a.m., followed by the meeting at 9 a.m. There will also be a bake sale and pie auction to support a local charitable effort and Amy Brown will be there to sell raffle tickets for a chance to win an ATV to benefit the Mount View class of 2022.

There are several quotes that refer to Mother Nature as being fickle; this week proves the point. T-shirt weather one day, followed by wind and cold and then a prediction of inches of plowable snow. This has wreaked havoc on our gravel roads. The ground, already saturated with the fall rains, followed by weeks of bitter cold, drove the frost deep into the ground.

It has been 10 years since my mother passed; it still feels like it was yesterday. She made the best apple pies and I just made one using her recipe. I can't make them as pretty as she did, but I do all right.
